Clarissa has been playing piano for 16 years across Australia, Singapore and Indonesia since the age of 4. She is a classically-trained pianist and started contemporary music education 3 years ago in Melbourne, Australia.
She is currently finishing my Bachelor in Music (Performance) at JMC Academy, which is one of the best contemporary music universities in Melbourne. She completed ANZCA Grade 8 Piano (Performance) exam with a High Distinction (89/100) and also ABRSM Grade 5 Piano (Music Theory) exam with a High Distinction too (97/100). She has also regularly made her name into the top 10 ranks back in her classical music piano school.
Clarissa believes the key to successful piano lessons is to deliver the materials as according to the student’s developmental level and to fuel their motivations to keep learning, which is why she offers a free 30-minute consultation before the first lesson and is more than willing to discuss and structure the lessons that takes into account each student’s liking and needs.
She aims to develop student’s technical, musical, and expressive abilities at the piano. However, motivation is very important when it comes to learning, so she delivers a friendly, nice and patient attitude and uses a lot of positive remarks to encourage students in developing the perseverance that is essential to achieve their musical goals. It will also provide them with the support that they need to overcome emotional barriers, negative change or self-limiting doubts that may impede their abilities and motivations.
She puts importance to create a warm, fun and relaxed environment when teaching a student so the students will not have to feel pressure and will be able to enjoy the lesson. She allows each student to learn comfortably at their own pace and there is no pressure for them to complete formal examinations.
The most rewarding part of her job is not only seeing her students improve and flourish on a musical level, but also helping them grow in self-confidence, self-esteem and become a happy, well-balanced individuals.
Private tuition is offered at her home apartment piano place at Carlton (very close to Melbourne CBD) using a digital piano with the complete 88 key.
