Coria Bjerking

I am a classically trained cello and piano teacher based in Coffs Harbour, dedicated to developing students’ technical skills, musical understanding, and confidence in performance. I teach cello at the Coffs Harbour Regional Conservatorium, Bishop Druitt College, and Casuarina Steiner School, and also teach piano privately.

I hold formal music qualifications including AMEB Cello Grade 8 with Credit, ABRSM Piano Grade 8 with Merit, ABRSM Music Theory Grade 5, and Beijing Conservatory Guzheng Grade 9. I also hold Level 2 Chinese Music Theory, AMEB Music Theory Grade 3 with High Distinction, and AMEB Clarinet Grade 1. My training encompasses both Western classical and traditional Chinese music.

In addition to teaching, I am actively involved in church music, where I lead worship bands, coordinate musicians, and direct ensemble rehearsals. This experience informs my teaching, particularly in rhythm, listening, and ensemble skills.

My teaching approach emphasises the development of musicianship, including tone, rhythm, technique, musical understanding, and confident performance in both solo and ensemble contexts. I also provide piano accompaniment to support students in performance preparation.
