Over 10 years’ experience teaching children and adults of all ages, cognitive abilities, and experience levels. Lessons are always tailored to the individual, whether your goal is to play a favourite piece of music, use music as an escape from the stresses of life, help teach you or your child discipline, or hopefully one day study music professionally.
I have a Bachelor of Music (Performance) from the Queensland Conservatorium where I also studied courses in music research, pedagogy and aural skills. I teach Flute, Piccolo, Piano and Music Theory. Teaching music is a passion where I aim to work in as best as possible with my students schedules.
Over the years, I have held various positions in ensembles such as the QLD Youth Orchestra's, convenor of the Brisbane Woodwind and Brass Eisteddfod, and musical/ballet ensembles around Brisbane. My experience includes recordings, auditions, volunteer work, eisteddfods, and teaching some children with disabilities. I have also travelled to China for the world expo in Shanghai.
Due to my extensive experience in the music education sector, I am knowledgeable in various youth music programs, such as SHEP, MOST, Creative Generations State Schools on Stage, the Young Conservatorium Ensemble Program and the McGregor Summer school Music Camp (Toowoomba) etc. I also have experience successfully preparing students for university exams, competitions, ensemble placements etc.
Continued development is important and as such I have attended musical development programs such as summer school work shops, AMEB syllabus training, camps, and master classes with renowned performers such as Trevor Wye.
