From Big Bands to Orchestras, and cover bands to Jazz Quartets, the Trumpet is by far the most diverse and expressive instrument you can find. I love sharing my passion for all things Trumpet and music, and can't wait to share!
I'm a graduate of the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, having completed 3 years of Jazz Trumpet, and 1 year of Classical Trumpet. Alongside extensive experience with the AMEB system, I've built all the necessary skills and more to teach players ranging from early beginner, to advanced.
Over the past 5 years I've also established myself among the original music scene, playing genres varying from reggae to electronic. I've recorded with groups including Fat Picnic, Kurilpa Reach, First Beige and many more... check them out!
My lessons generally revolve around creating a routine and knowledge base so that the student has the power to essentially teach themselves. I believe that the role of a good instrumental teacher is to set the student up so that eventually, they don't need a teacher!
The trumpet is a tricky instrument, especially in the beginning. My lessons will generally be 50% technique, which will involve a tailored routine per student, and a 50% focus on music. I always STRONGLY recommend my students spend time listening to the great trumpet players to discover what they want to sound like.
