Brisbane-born guitarist and composer Curtis Spiers studied at the Newcastle Conservatorium of Music working closely with Sydney based teacher and mentor Giuseppe Zangari. During this time, Curtis was involved in a number of contemporary groups and ensembles including 'Baltic Barmitzvah', while also honing his abilities in solo classical guitar performance. In 2011, he was awarded the 'David Jones Memorial Prize' as part of his studies at the conservatorium, recognising excellence in musicology, theory and aural ability.
After graduating in 2012, Curtis relocated to Melbourne to continue his studies at the University of Melbourne, completing a Master of Music (Performance Teaching) degree - a unique post-graduate degree specialising in advanced music performance practice, research, and teaching instrumental music.
Teaching regularly around Melbourne's inner suburban areas, Curtis is a passionate educator who helps aspiring musicians enjoy learning classical and contemporary guitar while instilling positivity and resilience in the face of challenges.
