Hi! I am a passionate and dedicated musician and teacher with over 13 years of teaching experience.
Playing classical piano from the age of 4, I began singing, playing and composing in original bands in high school. I completed a Bachelor of Contemporary Music at the Southern Cross University (Lismore) and and lived my dream of performing in Melbourne as a singer/songwriter between 2004-2008, releasing my own EP in 2007. Change of career took me to further extensive study in both voice and piano and I began building up my teaching business, running Singing for Fun groups while undertaking various compositional jobs in Brunswick, Melbourne. I also began teaching music in schools at this time.
Motherhood took me back to my Canberra roots for a hiatus (where I continued teaching) but I have now settled in Cockatoo in the beautiful Dandenong Ranges with my two children, husband and dog.
I currently work for Yamaha Music as a keyboard/music teacher teaching groups of young children how to play music by ear. This has opened me up to benefit of not only learning how to read music but the importance of developing a musical ear and the benefit of teaching via imitation.
I opened up my home studio in Cockatoo early in 2017 and love teaching both adults and children. I use my wide and varied experience in classical and contemporary music to tailor my lesson plans to each individual student. Most importantly I keep lessons fun! Music should always be a joy, and although it requires some effort and discipline (home practice is essential) I will always do my very best to engage with each student and use repertoire that excites and motivates.
