Hi! I am a passionate and dedicated musician and teacher with 20 years of teaching experience.
Playing classical piano from the age of 4, I began singing, playing and composing in original bands in high school. I completed a Bachelor of Contemporary Music at the Southern Cross University (Lismore) and and lived my dream of performing in Melbourne as a singer/songwriter between 2004-2008, releasing my own EP in 2007. Change of career took me to further extensive study in both voice and piano and I began building up my teaching business in Brunswick, running Singing for Fun groups while undertaking various compositional jobs. I also taught in many educational institutions - varying ages.
Motherhood took me back to my Canberra roots for a hiatus (where I continued teaching) but I have now settled in Emerald in the beautiful Dandenong Ranges with my two children, husband, dogs and chickens.
Upon my return to Melbourne I trained and worked as a Yamaha group music teacher for several years and became passionate about group learning. I currently lead and write arrangements for The Lyrebirds Community Choir and volunteer at the local primary school as a Choir Leader.
I love teaching both adults and children. I use my wide and varied experience in classical and contemporary music to tailor my lesson plans to each individual student. Most importantly I keep lessons fun! Music should always be a joy, and although it requires some effort and discipline (home practice is essential) I will always do my very best to engage with each student and use repertoire that excites and motivates.
Whether you are interested in learning how to sing, play piano, understand more about music theory, or all of the above, Come and try a lesson and get an assessment!
