David Lau

I am an experienced teacher with success guiding students through the process of learning a love of music, preparing for music exams and thriving in all performance settings from recitals to competitions. With 4 AMEB performance diplomas in violin, viola and piano, and multiple awards in all three instruments from eisteddfods and competitions across Melbourne, I bring an additional 16 years of experience as a teacher. I am adaptable and creative forming new approaches to suit the individual student’s learning style and musical goals.

In our lessons we explore the great repertoire of the violin and learn the technical requirements for the extraordinary instrument. We prepare for exams, recitals, auditions, competitions and performances as required. I use a mix of teaching methods to achieve the best results for the student. I also incorporate various teaching techniques and methodologies of my former teachers, Julian Quirit, Rosie Burns and Helen Zhang in my lessons.
