I left the Sydney Symphony Orchestra in 2002 after 32 years and have taught continuously since 1970. I also still play in various Sydney orchestras.
I mainly teach Orchestral Double Bass privately in my own home in Surry Hills, close to the City in Sydney. In a friendly environment I take pride in being a very good first teacher for people of all ages and have a Working With Children clearance. In my opinion the first teacher has a most important and satisfying role. The strong technical and musical foundations laid down flow over into every genre of music that uses the upright bass, and on to bass guitar as well.
I am experienced in preparing students for the NSW HSC, for AMEB examinations and for Tertiary study. Many of my students have been adults and I strongly suggest they join amateur orchestras when ready.
