Diane Briffa has a Bachelor of Music from the Victorian school of Arts and has undertaken post-graduate studies with Dame Joan Hammond. She was a member of the Victorian State Opera and was selected to join the Australian Opera. She has performed as a coloratura soprano in numerous opera’s and musicals. She has sung with Rob Guest (The Phantom) and performed with David Helfgott. She has sung in Victoria, Tasmania, Western Australia and Japan. Di has privately taught singing for many years and has taught music including choir and madrigals in schools. Recently, she has appeared in several musicals in Launceston as Carlotta (Phantom of the Opera), Fontine (Les Mis) and Mother Superior (The Sound of Music).
Di believes that to be a good singer it is extremely important to develop a strong sense of musicality, a sound breathing technique and to be careful not to damage your vocal chords.
Di offers traditional singing coaching to both new and established singers. She specialises in classical music and contemporary musical theatre. She can also teach musical theory and provide guidance for those undertaking AMEB exams.
