Piano Lessons in Melbourne

Dr. Allie Xinyu Wang

Dr. Wang is a distinguished pianist and dedicated educator, currently serving as a lecturer and staff pianist at the University of Melbourne. With a reputation for cultivating musical excellence, Xinyu is deeply committed to inspiring the next generation of pianists through thoughtful, rigorous, and imaginative teaching.

Trained at the Manhattan School of Music in New York under Dr. Marc Silverman, where she completed her Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance on a full merit scholarship, Xinyu brings a wealth of international experience to her students. Her pedagogical approach is rooted in a deep understanding of pianistic technique, musical expression, and stylistic versatility—skills she has refined through collaborations with world-renowned artists such as Zhou Long and Bright Sheng, and masterclasses with pedagogues including Barry Douglas, Yoheved Kaplinsky (Juilliard), John Perry, and Jerome Lowenthal.

As a Steinway Artist and Educational Partner, Xinyu has guided students to success in major competitions and conservatory entrance exams across Australia, the United States, and China. Her students are known for their expressive playing, technical fluency, and musical curiosity—hallmarks of her holistic and individualized teaching style.

With a background as a top prizewinner in prestigious international piano competitions, Xinyu brings real-world experience and insight to her teaching. She emphasizes not only technical development but also artistic identity, performance readiness, and a lifelong appreciation of music. Her teaching spans all levels, from advanced young artists preparing for AMEB, ABRSM, and tertiary studies, to aspiring professionals seeking mentorship and career guidance.

In both one-on-one lessons and masterclasses, Xinyu fosters a positive, disciplined, and artistically enriching environment that encourages each student to reach their fullest potential.
