Dr Dan is ACVA’s Academic Dean and a leading lecturer in voice education and entertainment marketing. A professional performer himself, Dr Dan teaches amateur and professional singers from a private studio in Brisbane, in addition to his commitments at ACVA and elsewhere.
He has sung with major companies including Opera Australia, Opera Queensland, Opera NZ, Singapore Lyric Opera, Really Useful Group (London), Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Essgee Entertainment (Simon Gallaher), Opera Hong Kong and Kleva Hive.
He is currently Vocal Tutor & Choral Conductor at San Sisto College in Carina. He’s also a proficient pianist, and will play along with you during your lessons, increasing your learning experience and fun!
Who and what singing styles does Dr Dan teach?
Beginners, professionals – and everyone in between. No audition required and it doesn’t matter whether you can read sheet music before you start.
Dr Dan Jess is a crossover vocalist and crossover singing educator, meaning he teaches both contemporary and classical methods, depending on your preferences, needs and goals. You can focus on musical theatre, contemporary, pop, rock, jazz, blues, soul, Christian or classical styles.
Where will my lessons be?
A private studio location in Woolloongabba, Brisbane. You can also learn to sing with Dr Dan online (singing lessons by Zoom), if you do not live in Brisbane.Tuition FeesWeekly 60 mins – $125 all inclusive (no need to buy any materials or sheet music – all is provided). Full-time Student rate $95/50 minutes on request. Invoiced per term (typically 10 weeks). Pay upfront or as you go. Full term commitment is required.
Dr Dan Jess takes your safety and health very seriously. In line with Queensland Education requirements, he is triple vaccinated against COVID-19 (Pfizer Cominarty) and holds a current Blue Card and professional indemnity and public liability insurances.
