I am an award-winning professional classical cellist and cello teacher, working in solo, chamber and orchestral contexts. I was the Australian Arts Fellow at Omi Music Residency, New York (2018) & I am a recipient of an APRA-AMCOS Art Music Award for Excellence. I have performed, toured and recorded with some of Australia’s and the world’s greatest musicians, as well as working for flagship classical ensembles/orchestras and independent creative projects across the nation. Alongside being a cellist, I have managed and curated seven multi-day art music festivals at Brisbane Powerhouse, Metro Arts, and QLD Conservatorium, including four editions of my cross-genre string festival, Restrung.
My extensive performance experience and love for music informs, and continually deepens, my teaching approach: developing musicality, a good ear, solid technique and a beautiful tone are central to playing music across many genres.
I have 28 years experience in teaching cello, strengthened by a Bachelor of Music, Masters in Creative Industries and PhD in Musicology.
Central to my teaching method is each student’s motivation for playing music. I provide AMEB exam preparation and tailored learning programs for classical cello players of all ages and abilities.
AMEB cello tuition is offered from Prep through to Licentiate Diploma.
I offer AMEB theory lessons up to 4th Grade.
I present at least one student concert every year to give everyone the opportunity to perform if they wish.
