I am a violinist/fiddler with classical as well as jazz/improvisation training, B.A. Music Performance, Adv. Dip. Suzuki Music Teaching, PhD Creative Arts. As a performer, teacher and researcher I specialize in the following violin/fiddle genres: East European, Latin, Swing, as well as Old Time and Bluegrass due to my Appalachian Mountain family heritage. My teaching approaches include improvisation and multi-instrumental experimentation alongside violin/fiddle technique for students whose goals are to have fun jamming in groups, coaching within a band, or song-writing/composition. For more advanced violin/fiddle students, I seek to empower each student, advanced or beginner, to identify the unique ‘violin/fiddle’ voice they want to cultivate, then we tailor the violin/fiddle techniques accordingly.
