My name is Dylan and I am currently studying Secondary Education Double majoring in Japanese and French at the University of Sydney. I have always had a love for music and play/practice the trumpet regularly. I have been teaching the trumpet for 2 years and enjoy it very much.
My trumpet tutor Mr. Rob Jardine mentored me for nine years, conducting me at my primary school, Gordon East Public (2006-2009) as well as tutoring me since 2011. Mr Jardine suggested I should teach after my HSC and during university as he strongly feels I have the capability to successfully tutor the trumpet to Primary and High school students.
I have been playing the trumpet for nine years and was actively involved in the Killara High School’s stage and concert bands as well as the orchestra, playing the position of principle/lead trumpet in each band since 2013. The school Concert Band 1 directed by Daren Jones competed in the National Band Championships in Melbourne in 2013 as well as performing at many prestigious high school band competitions such as the Yamaha Music Festival and the Chatswood RSL competition. In 2012 – 2014 the school Stage Band 1 led by Bob Coassin was chosen to provide foyer entertainment for the annual School Spectacular. I also performed with Stage Band 1 at the Chatswood Concourse in 2012 - 2014 and Sydney Opera House in 2014. As a member of the student prefect body at Killara High School, I was actively involved in the school community and was asked by the Roseville Sub-Branch, to perform the Last Post at the Roseville Dawn Service for the 100 year ANZAC Day anniversary.
For my High School Certificate I completed Music course 2 (teacher, Ms. Sunny Kim) which requires a minimum Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB) grade 6 in both theory and performance. In Music 2 I received a final HSC mark of 88/100. This mark included sight singing, score reading, composition, performance and music theory and oral skills.
