Eika Teshirogi

I began learning the piano at the age of five in Tokyo, Japan, where I developed a deep appreciation for music and discipline. My education was further enriched when I moved to Penrith in 2009, where I studied under the guidance of Jennifer Hammond OAM and was awarded the Associate in Music, Australia (AmusA) diploma in 2021.

I am deeply passionate about both teaching and learning the piano. In addition to my formal education, I continue to refine my performance skills through lessons with renowned pianists such as Luca Chiandotto (Italy), Jeremy Eskenazi, and Benjamin Kopp.

My teaching philosophy is centered around individuality: “No set method, no standard manual.” While piano playing requires discipline, I believe every student’s abilities, talents, and character are unique. Therefore, I customize my lessons to cater to each student's strengths and needs. I aim to make learning enjoyable so that students remain inspired to continue their musical journey for a lifetime.

*Studio Overview
•I currently teach around 35 students each term, many of whom have been with me long-term.
•Students range in age from 5 to 85 years.
•Many students have successfully passed AMEB music exams.
•Students participate annually in the Penrith Eisteddfod.
•I host an end-of-year student concert at the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre in Penrith.

*Professional Development
•I am a fully accredited teacher and a full member of the Music Teachers’ Association (MTA) of NSW.
•I actively participate in professional music teacher meetings during school holidays.
•I am continuing my professional piano performance education with Luca Chiandotto (Italy) and John Hines (Penrith Conservatorium).
•I regularly attend workshops and engage in professional development to enhance my teaching and performance skills.
