Cello Lessons

Skill Level Beginner to Advanced

I am a First Class Honours and Masters graduate of the Sydney Conservatorium, I play casually with the Sydney Symphony and Opera Australia Orchestras, and I have been teaching Cello privately and at various Sydney independent schools (including MLC School, Cranbrook, Santa Sabina, St Aloysius, Roseville College, International Grammar School, Kingcoppal Rose Bay and Monte) for the past 20 years. I am also an AMEB Strings Examiner.

I have also taught in the Sydney Conservatorium's Rising Stars program, and have had students gain music scholarships to Knox Grammar School, Meriden, Santa Sabina, and MLC School Sydney. I have had many students achieve their AMus and LMus diplomas, gain acceptance into the Australian Youth Orchestra, and be accepted to study at the Sydney Conservatorium at a tertiary level. I have also had many HSC Music students, both for Music 1, Music 2 and Extension courses, all of whom have received results in the top band, as well as nominations for Encore. I received an AMEB Teaching Award for ‘Most Outstanding Teacher: Instrument or Voice, Grade 7-Licenciate’ for 2022-2023.

I teach both children and adults with a mixture of the Suzuki method and AMEB, and offer lessons of either 30, 45 or 60 minutes at Pennant Hills or St Leonards.

I try to provide as many performance opportunities for my students as possible and organise a number of studio concerts throughout the year, which are great preparation for AMEB exams, youth orchestra and scholarship auditions.

I also particularly enjoy teaching adults who are passionate about learning the Cello, and run cello ensemble events for these students throughout the year.
