French Horn Lessons

As an enthusiastic and creative teacher, I help students to become the best horn players they can be, whilst enjoying the process. My positive energy allows students to feel supported and see their improvement.

I focus on enabling students to play what they want to play, and to play it well. I believe this starts with establishing a strong basis in good technique and embouchure which will allow for more consistent improvement in the long term. But I know how important it is to be engaged with playing and practicing, so I focus on playing pieces students want to play, sight reading, playing pieces by ear, and experimenting. If students want, I also do AMEB exams, which provide external motivation and structure, and can be a good goal to work towards.

I have been playing French Horn for around 16 years and have achieved my AMUSA Diploma in Horn. I have taught for around 5 years, with a good track record of happy, engaged, and successful students, with many A and A+ exam results and one of my students receiving a private school music scholarship.
