Emma Dron is a musician, conductor and educator based in Brisbane, Australia. For the past 16 years she has held leadership positions delivering music programs in schools. Her roles have included Director of Instrumental Music at Brisbane Girls Grammar School, Dean of Music at Ormiston College, Head of Strings at Villanova College and Curriculum Area leader for the Performing Arts (Acting) at Villanova College.
In 2000 Emma earned a Master of Music in Performance from the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University studying with Michele Walsh and here she developed her skills as a solo recitalist and chamber musician. For over a decade, Emma held the position of Director of Choral Music at St John's Anglican College, University of Queensland.
Emma was the director of a specialist early childhood music school for six years where she developed a love for working with very young musicians. This passion resulted in the creation of a set of unique beginner string resources which have been implemented in a variety of contexts throughout Brisbane and overseas.
For many years, she enjoyed her role guiding young string players as a conductor and tutor for the Young Conservatorium as well as coordinator of the beginner string program.
Emma has appeared as clinician and conductor at events such as the State Honours Ensemble Programs in Rockhampton, Mackay, Townsville and Cairns and at advanced music camps throughout Brisbane. She was guest conductor for the Queensland State Honours program for 2 consecutive years.
