Emma Gage is a unique singing talent. She has trained and performed professionally in pop, jazz, musical theatre and classical genres for over a decade, making Emma one of the most versatile vocalists and music teachers in Brisbane.
Emma’s love of vocal music began at Gondwana Choirs, Australia’s foremost national choral institution. In her six years at Gondwana, she performed with the Cat Empire and Katie Noonan, at the APEC cultural ceremony with Christine Anu and in the Melbourne Commonwealth Games opening ceremony. Emma also performed in several Sydney Opera House performances and toured Canada, France and England, culminating in a BBC Proms performance at Royal Albert Hall.
With classical training from Opera Queensland’s Jason Barry-Smith under her belt, she moved to Perth to immerse herself in the jazz world. Having studied at the prestigious Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, Emma graduated in 2013 with a Bachelor of Jazz Performance in Voice, majoring in Composition. There she was tutored by industry heavyweights Jamie Oehlers and Victoria Newton. WAAPA also afforded Emma the opportunity to workshop with Katie Noonan, Kurt Elling, Kristin Berardi, Gian Slater and Michelle Nicole.
Emma has toured nationally and internationally and has extensive experience singing in competitions, eisteddfods, album recordings and TV spots as well as for high-profile functions, conferences and charity events. She has performed frequently around Perth in her own groups and as vocalist of the WA Youth Jazz Orchestra Swing Band.
Having just completed a Graduate Diploma of Education, Emma is excited to return to Brisbane this year and impart her knowledge, experience and infectious love of music in one-on-one and group lessons.
