I’m Emma! 21, and have just moved back to Lane Cove after completing my Bachelor of Music Performance at Melbourne Conservatorium.
My lesson structure varies based on age: with younger students I try to set them up well with a love for the music and the horn, focussing on technique as a method to get the sounds they want. In later years, technical work and theory comes to the forefront to ensure sustainable long-term development, with repertoire serving as a method to reinforce these skills.
I have dealt with braces, shoulder and back pain while maintaining a high standard of playing (e.g. receiving an A+ for AMEB grade 7 with braces on), and I can help you navigate these challenges too.
Having played in Sydney Youth Orchestra throughout high school, my love for the horn led me to Melbourne, where I continued my musical development under Carla Blackwood. I have toured with the University Symphony Orchestra, played with the Gilbert and Sullivan Society, and Melbourne Sinfonia. I love working with kids, and taught many ages and levels while living in Melbourne. I’m also doing a Master of Teaching, so I can continue spreading my love of music.
