  • Master's of Teaching (Secondary)

Erin has more than 20 years’ experience teaching violin privately and in schools around Australia. Erin regularly performs with the Canberra Symphony Orchestra and as a freelancer in and around the Canberra region in chamber ensembles, rock bands and folk groups.

Erin’s teaching is student directed and aims to cater to individuals. She takes a holistic approach to each student’s musical development through a balanced focus on the emotional, intellectual, aural and hand dexterity of each musician. Her carefully structured program focuses on the development of rhythm, music reading and theory, technique and performance skills.

She offers early primary aged students carefully scaffolded instruction through the Colourstrings repertoire that is based on the Hungarian Kodály method and takes a child-centred approach to traditional note reading, technique and musicianship. She also has extensive knowledge and experience with the AMEB system and examinations process. Erin encourages students to engage in ensemble and performance opportunities within the community and provides informal concert opportunities at the studio.
