Australian born guitarist Ethan Dorrian is becoming an extremely intriguing and versatile guitarist of the next generation . He began his musical tuition at the age of 7, first beginning with the violin and at 13 Ethan fell in love with the Classical guitar. During his musical development Ethan studied the classical guitar at WAAPA, the Sydney Conservatorium of music, CRR de Paris, El Conservatorio Superior de Musica de Cordoba, Holding a Diplome de Etudes Musical and a Grado Superior de Musica. Ethan currently studies his MA performing arts (music) at WAAPA Ethan has performed at major concert venues including the Sydney opera house, Verbrugghen hall, Perth Concert hall, Teatro Gongorra, Auditorio de Victoria Eugenia, La Caja Blanca, Salle Maurice Ravel and the Esplenade Theatre among others. Ethan has performed as a recitalist, part of various chamber groups and as a soloist with orchestras and ensembles. As a competitor Ethan has been a finalist in multiple competitions across Australia, Europe and Asia, Most notably the Adelaide international guitar competition, Koblenz international guitar competition and Thailand international guitar competition, most recently Ethan was semi finalist in the Warana concerto competition.

Having gained experience and knowledge from major authorities within the classical guitar world such as Leo Brouwer, Marco Tamayo, Marcin Dylla, Judicael Perroy, Javier Riba and Renata Arlotti among others, Ethan aims to cultivate a unique musical style and adopt exceptional technique in relation to the performance of the classical guitar. His solo recitals centre around the theme of Rhetoric within the music of the classical guitar, which is also aided by his study of multiple European languages. Along with this Ethan has a keen interest in and is researching and performing the music of the 19th century, music of the Mediterranean and the large amount of Hispanic and Latin American music that the guitar has access to. Ethan’s current projects are centred around the Sonatas of Angelo Gilardino and the famous 6 cello suites by J.S Bach.

Having Gained much experience in differnt musical environments, Ethan aims to teach his students using a broad, holistic approach, not thinking only as guitarists but most importantly as musicians. Ethan has taught students from grade 1 to Licentiate level along with being able to teach in both English and Spanish. Ethan also teaches a private studio of 35 students, following a strict and rigorous curriculum.

Ethan is also part of the newly formed "Silver Sands Guitar Quartet" with Dr Jonathan Paget, Ingrid Riollot-Smallman and Craig Lake.

During his time studying in Cordoba, Ethan was gifted a new guitar by local luthier Atonio Rodriguez Galadi in order to commemorate his achievement in gaining a first class honors degree from the home of classical guitar in Andalusia. Ethan now hopes to represent both Australian and Spanish guitarists by pursuing his Master of Performing Arts(Music) in Perth.
