Evan O'Connor

My name is Evan, and I’m a violist in year 12 currently studying at the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary school, and I am looking to teach viola up to an AMEB grade 8 standard. I have a lot of experience successfully auditioning for/ playing in orchestras (with programs through AYO (including their flagship orchestra) MYO, ACO academy etc.), where I have played a lot of standard excerpts/orchestral repertoire therefore would be able to help students prepare orchestral parts as well as excerpts for auditions. Furthermore, I have experience playing in chamber groups and solo performing, and have strong knowledge of standard viola repertoire. I have also done extensive research into viola technique which would greatly inform my teaching practices. All of these skills/experience would also allow me to prepare students well for AMEB. Additionally, I have studied Alexander technique for over 2 years, and therefore have knowledge on addressing tension in students’ playing.
