My name is Fiona Qiu and I am currently a Conservatorium music student. I am able to offer violin and piano lessons for keen music learners for $50/hr or $35/half an hour. I have experience in tutoring many young beginner students and teaching sectionals during many different orchestra rehearsals.
I began playing the violin at the age of five and is currently learning from Michele Walsh, the Head of Strings at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music. As an experienced orchestral musician and an avid soloist, I’ve toured China, Russia and Europe with Tagiev Chamber Orchestra, played in Queensland Youth Symphony as a 1st violinist, played in the biannual Australian Combined School Music Festival during highschool, participated in Australian Youth Orchestra’s Young Symphonists program in 2015, and National Music Camp in 2015 and 2016. I’ve also earned a position in AYO’s 2018 February and July Season program.
I have been the Concertmaster of Brisbane Girls Grammar School’s Chamber and Symphony Orchestra since Year 10 and was awarded the RT Jefferies and Etheldreda Bursary for the ‘most promising music student in School’ on three occasions. I have earned recognition for her music making as a prizewinner of many Eisteddfod competitions in the past and as a finalist at the 2016 Brisbane International Youth Music Festival. In 2014, I received my AMusA Diploma for piano and last year, and AMusA Diploma for chamber music as the first violinist of Citisym Quartet. I had the privilege of playing Vivaldi’s Autumn and Winter as a soloist at the 2017 BGS combined school strings festival.
