Professional Accompanist

As an accompanist, my job is more than just playing the piano in the background. I work closely with singers and instrumentalists to support their performance. This includes helping the soloist maintain a steady tempo, and if they make a mistake, I adjust in real time to keep the performance flowing smoothly.

I also contribute artistically by discussing interpretation / musical ideas with the soloist in rehearsals. I aim to bring emotional depth to the performance, highlight the soloist’s musical lines, and create a more engaging experience for the audience.

Being a sought-after accompanist, I have worked as an associate artist (official accompanist) at Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music, Monash University for the past 15 years as well as accompanying students for AMEB exams and eisteddfods regularly.

Qualification: Doctor of Musical Arts in Solo and Collaborative Piano from The University of Auckland
