Francesca Mountfort

I am an experienced and devoted cello teacher. I’ve taught cello and tutored ensembles in many school environments, both primary and secondary and have been running my private teaching studio since 2006.

My priority is to foster a joyful love for music through the cello. My students develop musical skills and concepts through Kodály techniques in rhythm, ear training, and singing while developing a relaxed technique for ease of playing and skills in music reading and memory.

I am passionate about playing and teaching the cello. I love getting to know my students and embrace the challenge of adapting my teaching methods to accommodate their personalities and individual ways of learning. I find it especially rewarding to witness my students’ success in reaching their musical goals, whether an exam, audition, performance or simply mastering a piece they love to play.

Many of my students have been learning cello from me for 7+ years and I also teach online in four different states across Australia.

I studied cello with Rolf Gjelsten (cellist from the New Zealand
String Quartet) and David Chickering (principal cellist of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra).
