Piano Lessons

I am a university educated pianist and composer with several years of teaching experience. I am based in a home studio in Moorooka, Brisbane.

As a piano teacher I enjoy teaching kids and adults alike and will tailor my lessons to any ability. My primary aim is to instil a love of music in my students through exploration of a range of styles, while also helping them to develop great technical skills. My lessons will include repertoire, technique, music theory, aural studies and composing, as well as plenty of musical games for younger students! I have entered dozens of students into piano exams with high grades, and encourage student to participate in public performances to build confidence.

I also specialise in teaching composition and songwriting to a range of abilities. We can include this as part of your piano lessons or as a lesson by itself! In my career I’ve composed chamber music, orchestral music, created jingles and scored short live/animated films. I’ll tailor my lessons to your composition goals to help you create the music of your dreams. For both adults and young students, we’ll investigate form, structure and harmony; writing interesting melodies; learn how to improvise in different genres; and learn how to write down your music so you can share with others.
