Freya Schack-Arnott, cello teacher

  • Bachelor of Music Performance with Honours

I am an Australian/Danish cellist who enjoys a multi-faceted career as a soloist and ensemble performer of classical and contemporary repertoire.

Having taught for many years in both Australia and Denmark, my teaching draws from my rigorous classical training and orchestral experience, as well as my extensive creative involvement within a wide range of contemporary settings.

As a teacher, I believe a deep technical understanding of the instrument goes hand in hand with creative musical freedom, and therefore strive to provide a balanced teaching which unites technique and creative development. I aim to cater my teaching to the needs and aspirations of the individual student and teach all ages from beginner to advanced.

I am also the co-ordinator and conductor of the string program at Stanmore Public School and the string ensemble conductor at Newtown Public School.
