Grace is a clawhammer banjo and guitar player. She was raised in Warrington, England and graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music with a BMus(Hons) Contemporary Music Practice. In her lessons she aims to foster creativity as well as improve technique, tone and musicality in a fun environment.
She learnt clawhammer banjo from teachers including Craig Woodward (MEL), Joseph Decosmimo (NC) and from regularly travelling to folk festivals/old time jams. She spent 6 months living in Chapel Hill, NC learning banjo and participating in open jams to build technique and style.
Grace has run music workshops with teenagers and adults including Pirjirrdi Karnta Karnta, Yuendumu with Tara Rostron and Jodie Kell from Ripple Effect Band.
Grace is an active member of the Sydney music scene and regularly performs gigs. Her music style is inspired by Appalachian & Northwest English trad music, Pop, and New Orleans Jazz. She has performed at Tropical Fruits Festival, The Bearded Tit, Imperial Hotel, Red Rattler Theatre, Alleghany Jubilee (NC), Sydney World Pride, Powerhouse Museum, Carriageworks, Low 302 and
Kangaroo Valley Folk Festival.
