Grace Hordern is a classically trained harpist with a Bachelor of Music Performance with First Class Honours from the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. She has been playing for over 10 years, performing in solo, chamber and orchestral settings, studying under the current Principal Harpist of the MSO, Yinuo Mu. During her conservatorium studies, she participated in masterclasses under the instruction of harpists including Judy Loman, Alice Giles and Heidi Lehwalder. She has been harpist for the University of Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, including for their international tour to Singapore and Malaysia, as well the Melbourne Youth Orchestra and Percy Grainger Youth Orchestra. She will be a harpist for the prestigious Australian Youth Orchestra in 2024, performing in Melbourne and Tasmania.
Grace's lessons are very student-centred, and cater to a range of different learning needs. An experienced teacher, Grace's lessons are engaging and aim to instil a love for music and all things harp in each student. She can prepare students for exams including aural training and theory teaching.
