The Ipswich Thistle Pipe Band is embarking on a new initiative in establishing the Greater Ipswich College of Piping and Drumming.
The college is specifically designed and targeted to the Ipswich community for young people that may wish to learn the Bagpipes or Drums, ultimately become part of their band and taking advantage of some exciting opportunities.
With the establishment of the Greater Ipswich College of Piping and Drumming, under the auspices of the band, the aim is to:
• Recruit and teach people that are up for the challenge
• Entertain the community in a professional manner
• Compete to win – teaching people how to win!
Ultimately this will grow and develop the Ipswich Thistle Pipe Band ensuring the band’s future beyond its 108 years.
The band proudly supports the Community by taking part in various events throughout Ipswich City and also proudly advertises our Heritage City by taking part in various events nationally and internationally. In recent years the band has made trips to New Zealand and interstate to compete, performed at the Festival Interceltique de Lorient in France, and performed at the Kremlin Zoria Tattoo in Moscow, Russia.
The band is the current National Street March Champions in their competing grade.
This initiative will be delivered at the band facilities in Limestone Park. Although the initiative is designed as a youth development program, all ages are welcome.
Our tutors are some of the highest quality in the country, but we are lucky enough to keep our prices at $25 for a 45 min group lesson, or $15 for a 1 hour group lesson, as well as offering the first 2 lessons free!!
