With a variety of teaching positions spanning 10 years alongside a flourishing performance career, I bring a mixture of youth, experience and excitement to my lessons.

Offering clear, structured and fun double bass lessons for beginners to advanced students.

For beginner students, I teach not only the basic aspects of bass playing, but theory and aural studies also.

My goal with students is to not only show the most functional strategies and fundamental areas in tone production, ease of playing and technical facility but to guide the player towards making their own artistic and expressive impact in performance and practise.

I strongly recommend parental interaction for students under the age of 16 (you are most welcome to sit in on lessons!)

I have taught at some of the country’s most elite schools as well as though no-for-profits in disadvantaged communities. Through Sydney Conservatorium’s Open Academy, I taught students from 5 to 65 and have developed students to a solid tertiary level.

Where I stand out from other teachers is my ability to convey my passion for the things that make music special and sew an appreciation for great music, to inspire great music making.

(A little bit about my playing)
I’ve had a broad musical upbringing ranging from the St James and St Andrews Baroque Bands on period instruments to the Sydney based Mythra Ensemble, performing a range of Kurdish, Armenian, Persian as well as modern fusion
works.
I began my first double bass lessons when he was 12 with late jazz great Ed Gaston.
From 2013-16 In studied on Scholarship at the Sydney Conservatorium with Kees Boersma and later Alex
Henery.
In 2019 I commenced studies with Damien Eckersley at the Australian National Academy of
Music.

Over the last few years I have worked with the Sydney, Melbourne, New Zealand and Tasmanian
Symphony Orchestras as well as the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra. In 2020 he toured with the Australian Chamber Orchestra/ANAM for their Beethoven 1, 2, and 3 series.
