I teach the art of violin playing to all who wish to develop:
- new motor skills (especially in the case of young children),
- develop skills necessary to play the violin in tune (desired pitch), with good rhythm and with the ability to correctly express various technical styles especially with regards to appropriate use of whole (bowing) arm and the right hand (flexibility and appropriate to different styles movement).
- and last but not least to develop understanding, love, and respect for this phenomenal instrument.
Any level of ability can prepare for either AMEB or Trinity examinations but must be mature enough to be mindful of time required for preparation required - and this does vary from student to student.
Lesson durations are normally negotiable depending on your circumstances, but recommendation will be made to make learning successful and not a waste of both party’s time and money.
I am willing to teach those who wish to learn just for fun, but I will recommend a duration and frequency of lesson time and will expect a certain amount of commitment to student's practice so both, teacher and the student can enjoy their time together.
I also offer and often recommend music theory tuition to enhance music education. In some cases, I offer piano tuition for the very same reason.
