Hello, my name is Hannah and my musical journey started as a young child doing piano lessons and playing clarinet in the school’s wind ensemble. I've been teaching young children & teenagers for 5+ years and work with each child / family uniquely. My previous profession in youth work & social work contribute to the holistic approach I bring to each lesson.
My lessons are driven by what sparks interest in the child, whether that be playing Coldplay for their friends or Chopin for their grandma. I aim to nurture a sense of playfulness, creativity and joy in my students. This could look like introducing improvisation to encourage self-expression, games to reinforce music theory, learning a song through singing before reading written music, etc.
As an Australian born Chinese who has lived and grown up in various countries, I believe music transcends all differences. Music in its essence is about self-expression, no matter where one is “from”.
