  • BMus (Honours I)
  • MMus
  • Doctor of Musical Arts (in progress)

I am an experienced and prolific composition teacher and educator. I currently lecture in composition at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and have been Composer in Residence at Abbotsleigh School for four years, during which time I have taken dozens of composition students through the HSC music courses. For three consecutive years (2017-2019) I have had a student top the state in HSC Music 2, whilst many other students of mine have received Encore nominations for composition.

As a professional composer, I have had works commissioned and performed by artists including Yo-Yo Ma and Kathryn Stott, five of Australia's professional symphony orchestras (SSO, MSO, TSO, QSO, CSO), Musica Viva Australia, and many other soloists and ensembles. I hold BMus and MMus degrees in composition from the University of Melbourne, and am currently undertaking a Doctor of Musical Arts at the University of Sydney.

I am experienced in teaching all styles of composition and/or song-writing to all ages and levels, with particular emphasis on developing compositional technique, finding a individual style or voice, music analysis, and developing original and creative ideas. I am available to teach at my studio in the Ryde area or on Zoom.
