GUITAR AND UKULELE LESSONS
Chicks with Picks Melbourne offers lessons in ukulele and guitar for women and kids 7 years and up. You can take a private class or join a group and learn your instrument along with other women. There is nothing like being able to strum along in a group or on your own and learn new arrangements to classic songs. You'll also have the opportunity to participate in community festivals and jam sessions and become part of a strong, vibrant musical community that reaches across Melbourne.

MOMMA (Men of Mystical Musical Ability) are an off shoot of Chicks with Picks Melbourne. They are a group of men who enjoy playing ukulele and having a sing. They meet every Monday evening in Surrey Hills to strum, sing and learn new ukulele techniques and tricks.

SOCIAL MUSIC MAKING SESSIONS
At the end of each term, everyone is invited to a social music making session to share songs and good company accompanied by copious cuppas and delicious cake!

YOUR TEACHER
My name is Helen and I am an experienced guitarist, ukulele player, performer, songwriter, and teacher. My personal interest and specialty is teaching women how to play guitar and ukulele with confidence and enjoyment.

I'm also a performer and have toured extensively to festivals and venues across Australia with various groups including my current project, The Good Girl Song Project, and in the past as a solo artist and with folk band, Milk. I have worked with many folk artists as a songwriter, instrumentalist and singer.

My formal qualifications are a BA in Music and English from Latrobe University, a Certificate 4 in Training and Assessment and I'm currently studying a Diploma of Family history and Genealogy at University of Tasmania - it helps with songwriting!
