Helen Griffith

I am a cello teacher based in Newcastle with a few spaces open for 2019.

I started playing the cello at 7 years of age and attended Newtown Performing Arts High School which brought about a love for all types of music including singing and jazz piano. In 2005 I began cello studies with Georg Pedersen at the Sydney Con. Since moving to Newcastle in 2009, I regularly perform with the Christ Church Camerata, the Metropolitan Players, The National Theatre Company the Lake Macquarie Philharmonic, and various wedding quartets, alongside working as an auditioner for the Australian Youth Choir (2010-2013) and as the 2016 Lake Macquarie Strings eisteddfod adjudicator .
I work at Newcastle Grammar School, The Hunter School of the Performing Arts and numerous public schools as a year 3 -6 class strings and private cello tutor. I also teach cello from my home in Charlestown and am currently studying a Masters of Primary Teaching.
