I have over 30 years professional experience performing, and teaching musical instruments to children and adults. I am an itinerant music teacher visiting primary schools teaching several instruments including violin, guitar and drums.
The violin is my main instrument and I enjoy playing tunes from many genre including classical, gypsy, popular and folk. My particular interest is improvising in all genres including Country, Rock, Blues, Bluegrass, Ethnic and Jazz.
After only having a few lessons in the beginning I continued to self-teach and study the methods of many famous classical pedagogues. I have also gained a comprehensive knowledge of music theory.
I focus on the efficient techniques of practice, and the emphasis is on having fun playing music.I teach classical technique using the AMEB syllabus and other tried and tested methods, and repertoire. I also teach Celtic music and pieces from other folk traditions as well as standards from Jazz styles, in particular “Gypsy Jazz”. My lessons are always personalized to the individual needs of the student.
