Drum lessons

Hi, I’m Henry — a passionate drummer and friendly tutor who loves helping people learn. I’ve been teaching for over 3 years and have worked with students of all ages — from young kids picking up sticks for the first time to adults rediscovering their love of music. I’ve trained in styles like jazz, rock, funk, and metal, and I’ll always adapt our lessons to suit your goals, pace, and interests. My aim is to make learning drums fun, rewarding, and something you look forward to every week.

In our first session, you'll be sitting at a full acoustic drum kit, while I’ll be right beside you on an electric kit to guide you through everything step by step. This setup makes it easy for me to demonstrate what we’re working on in real-time, so you can hear and see exactly how things should sound and feel — without having to constantly swap seats.

We’ll start by getting you comfortable on the drums, going over how the kit is set up and how to hold the sticks properly. From there, we’ll jump into some basic grooves, coordination exercises, and even try playing along to a backing track or two. If you’ve got a favourite song, bring it in — we’ll aim to get you playing through it by the end of the lesson!

Whether you’ve never picked up sticks before or you’ve already started exploring the drums, the goal of our first lesson is to have fun, build confidence, and get you excited about what’s possible.

Prices are $45 per hour at my home studio or at your residence. Flexible on shorter lesson times and one-off lessons :)
