Drum Lessons for Beginners and Advanced Students

So you're interested in learning drums, eh? It's pretty obvious that you're hungry for a bit more rhythm and groove in your life.

I was a Blue Mountains local and I have just moved back after 7 years of living in Melbourne, and I'm now providing drum lessons in the Blue Mountains area.
In Melbourne, I studied jazz performance on drums at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music and thereafter taught drums privately full time at Richmond Music Academy for 4 years.

• ABOUT MY LESSONS

-learn how to play drum beats, fills and songs, in a variety of styles
-Develop beautiful, flowing technique so that you can play comfortably and fluently
-Learn to read music and become acquainted with the plethora of texts that are required to learn and practice.
-Develop the skills to play drums in ensembles. (Useful for high school students interested in playing orchestra, concert/big band, jazz band, rock band, etc.)
-learn to improvise and compose for the drum set.

First thing to know is that my lessons are suitable for people of all ages. I've taught people from 6, up to 60 years old! (I haven't thus far taught anyone older than 60, so if that's you than I would love to teach you!)

I like to give a shout out to older students, because starting learning an instrument when you are an adult can be daunting and maybe even feel embarrassing. There's a myth out there that you have to learn instruments when you're a child or it's not worth it, and this is simply not true. I have the experience to back this up!
On the flip side, if you are looking for someone to teach your child, my lessons are engaging and suitable for children as young as 6 years old.

I also teach people of all skill levels. The vast majority of students who have come to me are first time beginners, and some have stayed with me for 3 years, from their very first ever drum lesson to this day, where they have completed grade four AMEB exams.
Some students I have taught have gone on to be accepted into Monash, Victorian College of the Arts, and Box Hill institutions for music performance on drums.

I am offering lessons from my home in Leura, and online over zoom.
I am also able to travel to your place for 45 and 60 minute lessons, and do incur an extra $20 to account for costs of travel and time.
