Ira Viter

I have 46 years of experience in piano teaching and graduated in 1984 from Music Academy of Donetsk. I taught at University and Music Schools in former Soviet Union, at Huntingtower School in Mount Waverley and in my private studio. I teach all styles- classical, jazz and modern and I prepare my students for music scholarships, AMEB exams from Grade 1 to AMuS, LMuS and music auditions.

When looking for a music teacher for beginners, you will probably consider getting a very experienced teacher, as the first year of tuition is the most important, even critical, so they can build a technique and a performing ability free of unnecessary tension and effort.
Each student learns to read and understand music, play by ear, compose music and develop ear training in fun and engaging way. Lessons are fun and easy but very effective as I have spent 45 years learning from my students and what trully works for each unique child. My students have achieved impressive results in AMEB exams and competitions, love to improvise and create their own songs.

Being a passionate and enthusiastic teacher, I always try my best to make sure that my students are engaged and enjoying their lessons. A large portion of my focus concentrates on musicality and expression, general music knowledge, technique, sight-reading skills and theory.
