Jack Stoneham is a graduate of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance, graduating with first class honours.
Jack Stoneham has had 4 years of experience teaching saxophone lessons at schools across Sydney, including Kent Road Public School, Davidson High School, Avalon Public School and Jazz Workshop Australia. Additionally he has also taught for many years in his private studio. Jack has also conducted bands at numerous schools for the past 3 years. He has experience teaching students of all ages and abilities.
Jack is experienced in teaching students band repertoire, preparing students for AMEB exams, and specialises in teaching improvisation in jazz and contemporary styles. Jack uses improvisation as a tool to teach a better understanding of musical concepts and theory and heighten instrumental facility and technique.
As a performer Jack regularly performs with many bands across Sydney in a variety of styles. He has performed alongside notable jazz musicians such as Mike Nock, Jim Denley, Peter Farrar. He regularly performs with Judy Bailey's Jazz Connection Big Band, hip hop band Sagrada Familiar, jazz quintet Skram Luff and large scale improvising group The Splinter Orchestra. He also leads his own band The Pen Club which he has written music for. He has also performed alongside international artists Burkhard Beinz, Petr Vrba, Brigit Ulher.
