James W. Robinson graduated from the famous violin making school in Cremona Italy in 1973. He has been making and restoring fine instruments for 50+ years. His teachers were the renowned master violin makers G.B. Morassi and F. Bissolotti as well as G. Sgarabotto.
In the past 40 years he has worked as a restorer with some of the most famous violin shops in the world in New York, Boston, London, Tokyo and other places. He has won 4 international awards for his craftsmanship, including a silver medal for viola tone in 2014 at the VSA competition, Indianapolis, USA, and has made more than 250 instruments as well as restoring thousands of student and professional level instruments. He has worked in professional violin shops in the UK, Japan, Singapore, USA, Italy and Australia
