Jamie

I have been involved in the Geelong and Melbourne classical music scene for many years from a young age, with extensive experience in performing, teaching one on one, tutoring/conducting ensembles, organising concerts and preparing students for examinations. In addition, I have a comprehensive knowledge in music composition, music theory and aural training. I also have been issued with a Working With Children Check.

I have had the opportunity to work in a number of professional roles including, Violin Teacher, Violin/Viola Tutor, Primary and associate Concertmaster, and Private Music Instructor. Through my involvement in the music teaching industry, I have taught a diverse group of individuals ranging from prep school to senior school students as well as numerous adult students all possessing varying levels of playing ability from beginners to advanced. My goal is to introduce and expand on the wonder of music and the art of playing an instrument to music students. I tailor music lessons to each student’s technical requirements and learning pace in order to progress students of all ages to an advanced level of playing.

Furthermore, I strive to expand students' interests by synchronising with their preferred learning style, incorporating appropriate language, and apply activities that yield the best results. By utilising these effective methods, I am able to build a rapport with each student, explore new ideas, hold the student’s attention, and guide them to become well-rounded musicians.
