Jane loves to introduce her students to the gift of playing the violin and viola and embed a lifelong love of making music. Jane has played violin since the age of 4 and viola since the age of 11. Jane won a scholarship to attend the Sydney Conservatorium High School where she studied primarily under Alex Todicescu until achieving her AmusA (Viola) in 2000.
Jane loves to support the playing ambitions of her students: whether that is to play a favourite piece of music or to undertake formal AMEB examinations on either violin or viola. Jane works with her students to unlock their goals and develop a lifelong passion for music.
Jane plays in various Sydney-based orchestras, most recently The Sydney Lawyers Orchestra, The Metropolitan Orchestra (TMO), the Ryde Hunters Hill Symphony Orchestra (RHHSO). Jane also enjoys playing electric violin and viola, (as well as guitar, bass and saxophone).
Jane has recently collaborated with Canadian singer-songwriter Bear Brewer, and is featured playing viola on his upcoming original release (July 2023). Jane also occasionally performs live as part of a two-woman musical duo, Whisky River. Jane recently supported Damien Leith and Darren Coggan playing in the “Strawberry Fields Quartet” on their Two of Us: Songs of McCartney & Lennon tour (2023).
Jane is also Co-Founder of Appassionata Strings, a string ensemble booking agency based in Sydney.
