Qualified piano teacher (BMus Piano Performance, Griffith University) with over 20 years’ experience teaching beginners of all ages.

I specialise in helping complete beginners start piano in a way that feels simple, musical, and achievable from the very first lesson—without overwhelm or pressure.

My teaching uses a modern, structured approach that focuses on real music from the beginning, rather than long technical drills.

I combine:

Samantha Coates’ rote-learning approach, which helps beginners learn patterns, build confidence, and play fluently from early on
Piano Safari, which gently develops reading, technique, and musicianship together in a clear step-by-step way
Carefully selected beginner-friendly repertoire and reading pieces (including modern educational composers such as Daniel McFarlane), so students are always learning through actual music, not just exercises.

Students quickly learn how to read, play with both hands, and understand rhythm in a way that feels natural and manageable.

Lessons are calm, supportive, and tailored to each student. My focus is helping beginners feel confident at the piano and actually enjoy practising from the start.
