Jariyan Patel

Jariyan Patel is a classical-contemporary violist and music educator based in Melbourne (Naarm), Australia. Specialising primarily on viola, Jariyan also performs and tutors on violin and piano. Having graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School (VCASS), she has a strong background in musicianship, including aural studies and music theory, incorporating these aspects into her students’ music lessons. Jariyan is able to guide them students through the AMEB Curriculum, also offering tuition in VCE Music subjects, preparing students for exams in alignment with the VCE Music Curriculum and in the use of Sibelius composing software.

Jariyan has recently completed a Bachelor of Music (Performance) at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, performing with both the University of Melbourne Symphony and Philharmonic Orchestras, touring in 2023 to Singapore and Malaysia.

Jariyan’s personalised approach to teaching incorporates flexibility, warmth and a nurturing atmosphere in their own home, catering for children of all ages and at any level of mastery, including those who have a neurominority cognitive profile and specific learning needs. Although the overriding goal of each student may vary, Jariyan attempts to impart her love of music, such that enjoyment and a sense of accomplishment is the end result of each lesson.
