Jasmine De Marco

Jasmine De Marco is a Melbourne-based Double Bassist from Melbourne, who recently completed a Bachelor of Music (Classical Performance) at the Hedberg School of Music with Stuart Thomson in 2024. Prior to this, she studied with Emma Sullivan and Ivan Rosa.

She was recently awarded the 2024 D&MV McDonald Scholarship in Music, allowing her to study in London with Tom Goodman and Nicholas Bayley. Upon her return, Jasmine performed as a soloist with the Derwent Symphony Orchestra, performing the Koussevitzky Double Bass Concerto.

In June 2023, Jasmine founded the Secret Orchestral Society, an Orchestra with the purpose of premiering student composer works in Hobart, and providing high-quality orchestral training opportunities to students at the Hedberg School of Music. This year, she is leading the Mahler Project, a collaboration of five ensembles, including the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra in a performance of Mahler's 2nd Symphony; the first of its kind in Tasmania.

Throughout her studies in Hobart, Jasmine has performed as Principal Double Bassist of a number of ensembles, including the Tasmanian Youth Orchestra, Hobart Chamber Orchestra, Derwent Symphony Orchestra, Hedberg Ensemble, St Mary's Cathedral Sinfonia, and in amongst various chamber ensembles.
