Jason Pestana has taught song writing for a number of years, having a number of students successfully achieve band 6's in both HSC music 1 and 2 + extension.
Studying at Sydney's conservatorium of music for 5 years an obtaining a Bachelors degree with honours. Jason specialised in composition and work with tutors such as Anne Boyd, Winsome Evans, Michael Smetanin and Tevor Pierce to name a few. This study helped Jason with attain the skills needed to lead fresh young composers and songwriters into new levels of development and skill.
Song writing usually starts either at the piano with vocals or at the computer using music notation software; Jason teaches using either method - whatever the student desires and works best at.
Each lesson consists of Jason setting homework or receiving assignments from school, discussing said work and thinking of ensembles and styles of song writing to suit, even conceptualization like working on a theme for lyrics or even a musical melody.
Subsequent lessons will be reviewing homework and pursuing each composition right to its very completion.
If a student wishes to study song writing musicianship then this is also a possibility, using the Dulcie Holland method.
