Jasper Ly

I’m a professional oboist and English horn player based in Melbourne, with a Bachelor and Master of Music Performance from the University of Melbourne.

After completing my studies, I had the opportunity to travel to Europe, where I took part in private lessons and masterclasses with several renowned oboists. These included Dominic Wollenweber (Berlin Philharmonic), David Walter (Conservatoire de Paris; Guildhall School of Music), Ralph van Daal (Hochschule Düsseldorf), Max Artved (Royal Danish Academy of Music), Karel Schoofs (Rotterdam Philharmonic), and Jonathan Small (Royal Liverpool Philharmonic). Their guidance has had a strong influence on both my playing and teaching style.

As an orchestral musician, I regularly perform with many of Australia’s leading ensembles, including the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Victoria, Opera Australia Orchestra, Victorian Opera, Melbourne Chamber Orchestra, Royal Melbourne Philharmonic, and Sydney Chamber Opera. I’ve also performed in several professional musical theatre productions, including Disney’s Aladdin and Miss Saigon.
